CMUThought Community Thought

This year my son will be playing basketball for the second year in an organization called Upward. What I like most about this basketball league is that they focus on the development of the child both physically and spritually. The focus on winning is pushed aside so that kids can learn the game and have a chance to build up their confidence while learnging about the game. Outside of the normal basketball trophies that they hand out at the end of the season to every kid they also hand out stars at the end of each game to each kid. It is really a unique experience and my son loved it so much last year that he wanted to play again this year. My advice in rewarding young kids is to take the pressure off of winning and let them learn and enjoy the game.
