There are many types of market research that a business can do to understand their customers better. There is primary and secondary research. Secondary research is based on information gleaned from studies previously performed by agencies, chambers of commerce, trade associations, and other study groups. This is usually the quickest and least expensive and can set some benchmarks for your primary research. Primary research is research that’s tailored to a company’s particular needs such as focus groups and surveys.

What you do with the information will help you shape your marketing and sales approaches to more effectively reach out to your customers or attract new ones.
