Health information online has become the major source of confusion for health care professionals and patients. Patients will research their condition online and then come armed with a mountain of information. Unfortunately some of this may be incorrect causing the Dr. to spend more time educating the patient on the correct diagnosis, or convinving the patient they do not have a particular condition. Patients will also look up generic drug costs for medicines such as Albuterol and then find Canadian pharmacies pricing which may not be available in the US.
Epocrates is enhancing its free web-based drug and formulary reference guide with patient education materials and additional clinical tools. Clinicians currently have immediate access to the information needed to make prescribing decisions – such as drug dosing, drug interactions and health plan coverage.
