One of our fouding fathers, Thomas Jefferson, had this to say to politicians on the attempt to disarm the ordinary citizen:“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms … disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. … Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”

The issue of owning guns for protetction or hunting is one that will certainly spark debate. I believe that our rights to bear arms is an individuals choice. The one issue is that do take on the responsibility to own and keep a gun at home should take every precaution to make sure it is secure. This can be achieved by a gun safe that allows secure storage and fire protection.
